Time is running out for Albany to deliver a budget that works for working people.

New Yorkers are clear: we want Governor Hochul and the state legislature to tax the richest individuals and corporations to invest in the essential services we depend on.

I support the legislature’s proposals to increase taxes on those earning over $5 million, taxes on big corporations in the city and state, PTET rate decreases, and other measures to make the wealthy pay what they owe to fund our future. I’m writing to ask you to hold the line. 

As negotiations continue, you must hold firm. Do not water down these proposals. Make sure every progressive revenue measure is included in the final budget, and push for even more wherever possible.

Please use your voice to fight for your constituents and urge Governor Hochul to keep all revenue raisers in the final budget. New Yorkers deserve world-class public services (including universal child care, transit, and housing) funded by stable, recurring revenue through taxes on the rich.
