Fill out this form to send an email to your State Legislators and Governor Hochul asking them to listen to the majority of their constituents who want to tax the rich to fund an affordable New York. The content of the email that will be sent is as follows:

Dear [insert name of representative],

My name is [your name] and I'm a constituent in your district.

I’m writing because New York families are being crushed by the cost of living.

Last year’s New York City mayoral election and recent polling across the state makes clear: a majority of New Yorkers want Governor Hochul and the state legislature to fund universal child care, affordable housing, fast and free buses, and other essential services by taxing the richest individuals and biggest corporations.

While the wealthiest New Yorkers are set to receive a $12 billion tax cut this year, nearly one million of our neighbors risk losing healthcare and more than 200,000 could lose SNAP. Everyday New Yorkers are poised to bear the brunt of the Trump cuts if we don’t act now.

The proposed revenue raisers in the one-house budgets are a good start, but inadequate to address the full scale of the affordability crisis and the devastating Trump cuts.

The state should raise over $30 billion annually by:

Making our state income taxes more progressive (S.1622-Jackson/A.1281-Meeks)

Raising corporate taxes on the most profitable corporations in NY(S.953-Hoylman/A.1971-Kelles,Shrestha) and in NYC (S.9189-Gonzalez/ A. 10340

-Moreno)

Making NYC income taxes fair with the “Fair Share Act” (S.8577-Liu/A.8953-Souffrant Forrest)

I support funding the affordability agenda and protecting New Yorkers from Trump cuts by taxing the rich and I urge you to do the same. Together, we can make New York affordable again.

Sincerely,

[your name]
