As the recent New York City mayoral election made clear, New Yorkers want Governor Hochul and our State Representatives in Albany to guarantee free, high-quality childcare for every child by taxing the rich and big corporations.

As your constituent, I am extremely concerned with the affordability crisis in New York. The cost of childcare is out of reach for New Yorkers – statewide, we’re collectively paying $14 billion a year for childcare. Households with young children are 40% more likely to leave the state than those without young children, and twice as likely to leave New York City.

New York can do better. The federal government has eviscerated social programs like SNAP and Medicaid leaving millions of New Yorkers at risk of losing benefits. Meanwhile, Trump is threatening New York with more retaliatory funding cuts. As a state with a thriving economy, we need to take a stand. 

I support free, universal childcare and taxing the rich in New York, and I urge you to do the same. Together, we can make New York affordable again.
