Fill out this form to send an email to your State Legislators and Governor Hochul asking them to fund free, universal child care by taxing the rich. The content of the email that will be sent is as follows:

Dear [insert name of representative],

My name is [your name] and I'm a constituent in your district.

I’m writing because New York families are being crushed by the cost of living.

As the recent New York City mayoral election made clear, New Yorkers want Governor Hochul and our State Representatives in Albany to fund truly universal child care, affordable housing, and fast and free buses, by taxing the richest individuals and biggest corporations.

As your constituent, I am extremely concerned with the affordability crisis in New York. The cost of child care is out of reach for New Yorkers – statewide, we’re collectively paying $14 billion a year for child care. New York is consistently ranked as the most unequal state, and the second most expensive in the country.

New York can do better. The federal government has eviscerated social programs like SNAP and Medicaid leaving millions of New Yorkers at risk of losing benefits. Meanwhile, Trump is threatening New York with more retaliatory funding cuts. As a state with a thriving economy, we need to take a stand.

To address the affordability crisis and the devastating Trump cuts, the state should raise over $30 billion annually by:

  • Making our state income taxes more progressive (S.1622-Jackson/A.1281-Meeks)

  • Raising corporate taxes on the most profitable corporations in NY(S.953-Hoylman/A.1971-Kelles,Shrestha)

  • Making NYC income taxes fair with the “Fair Share Act” (S.8577-Liu/A.8953-Souffrant Forrest)

I support funding the affordability agenda and protecting New Yorkers from Trump cuts by taxing the rich and I urge you to do the same. Together, we can make New York affordable again.

Sincerely,

[your name]
